Garden Club
The Club, founded in 1986, continues to flourish with around 90 members. Meetings are usually held in Tiverton Village Hall, Huxley Lane, on the first Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm, although Zoom has been used during the Covid-19 pandemic, and local gardens are visited in the summer.
Tiverton Gardening Club APRIL 2021 programme
We have a varied programme of knowledgeable and interesting speakers, either new to us or familiar favourites, who usually illustrate their talks on gardening topics with photographs displayed on a large screen.
People are encouraged to bring plants, surplus produce or any other garden-related items along for sale at the meetings, to help Club funds.
We hold Horticultural Shows twice a year, with all classes open to everyone. There are classes for flowers, pot plants, fruit and vegetables, flower arranging, cookery, handicrafts, photography, and also a section for children to enter. Exhibiting is easy, just call Joyce (733465) or email tonyandjoyce@khumbu.plus.com for a schedule or more details. Let’s make the Shows a real village event, your entry doesn’t have to be perfect, this isn’t Chelsea!
If you aren’t already a Club member, why not come along to a meeting where you’ll be sure of a warm welcome. Annual membership is only £7, with £2 entrance fee (£3 for visitors), to the normal meetings, which includes a free raffle and tea and biscuits afterwards. Special meetings where wine and seasonal refreshments are served cost a little more – see the programme.
