The Deeside Hockey Club are undergoing some lighting upgrades from 18th October for about 4 days.
We have been informed that some long-term maintenance is needed to the floodlights around the main pitch. Deeside Hockey Club have said the current metal halide based system is at the end of its useful life and as metal halide lamps deteriorate over time this results in lighting levels that do not meet the requirements of the leagues they play in or for the conduct of safe hockey. Therefore they have chosen to upgrade the system to use LED technology, and have informed us that because the light from LED can be better controlled and focused it means they can meet required safe hockey lighting levels at a lower absolute level of lighting (lower lux levels). They have assured us that they can reduce upward light emission to zero, and they can also achieve a design that further reduces light spill.
The works are proposed to last 4 days and will involve the use of a cherry picker and so the areas involved will have safety barriers in use. They will need to block off a small strip between he fence-line and pitch on the far side for some of the works. Please be wary and avoid the immediate area where the work in being carried out.
